Well lookie there, we are almost at 200 days of this “new normal.” Blech.
I went clothes shopping in the new normal last night. Which consisted of me buying four pairs of jeans, taking them over to my friend’s house, which is closer to the store, trying them all on, and returning the other three to the store. Someone please tell me how this makes sense.
It has made for some quiet weekends and busy work weeks. I did have a great little day trip over to the island with a few girlfriends on the last weekend of summer. The boat ride was incredible, the weather was perfect, and we had fun poking around in shops and laughing so hard we cried. We even saw porpoises from the boat! Girlfriends are the best.
Then the weather turned to fall with a vengeance. High winds and heavy rain for several days. Fun. It did clear out the smoke though! In the last couple of days the smoke has closed in again, but not to the same degree. There’s hope that it will go away starting tomorrow. It irritates my eyes and my throat…
I’m definitely not ready for winter. With everything being so messed up this year, it feels like we shouldn’t even have to count it! We should get to skip winter and start in the spring! It seems like a good idea to me, but I doubt I’m going to be able to get this plan off the ground.
With my schedule of working from home, I’m rarely up to see the sunrise these days. Honestly, I’m gotten a bit lazy, rolling out of bed as late as 7:40 sometimes – you can get away with that when your commute is only 20 feet! But last Friday, I had the day off and was up early to finish getting packed and out the door for a weekend camping trip, and I caught this beauty!
I wanted to sleep in yesterday, but instead I woke up at 5:15 am and couldn’t fall back to sleep. Darn early work days! I got up and was in my office, but came back into my east facing bedroom to catch the last of a stunning sunrise.
Yesterday, I didn’t have to be out of the house quite so early, because I had a dentist appointment first thing. I got to have a bit of a leisurely morning, but I had to have one of my old silver amalgam fillings replaced, complete with Novocain and that horrible grinding. The good news is that I now have a tooth colored filling that isn’t noticeable. Unfortunately though, my mouth is still a bit sore – hopefully that goes away soon.
The other plus yesterday was that my later departure meant that I captured a beautiful sunrise!
The weather has been a bit erratic this week. We had snow that melted in a few hours, then snow again a few days later. The days have been mostly sunny and cold overnight, but warming up nicely during the day.
I was greeted with this stunning sunrise a few days ago; it is too pretty not to share.
The weather around here has been pretty poor lately. The usual Northwest fall/winter blend of heavy rain and high winds. But when the weather does clear, it makes for some beautiful sunrises, like this one from my bedroom window on November 6.
I hope you all survived Thanksgiving and are having a smooth week…
